Flying
If you are
travelling from Lithuania, Denmark, England, Belgium or France, I definitely recommend
using Ryanair and transport yourself either to Bratislava Airport or Budapest
Airport. Budapest is closer to Presov; however trains from Bratislava go more
often. The average price of return flight ticket is 30 – 100 EUR. Additionally,
you may check flights from Hungarian company Wizz Air.
Please note
that coming from Lithuania you would need to switch the flight; the best
connections are again though England, Belgium, France or Italy.
Let me know
if you require any assistance searching for your flight.
Transport from the airport in Bratislava (and
back)
Please take
bus No. 61 from the airport that goes directly to the Main railway station. The
bus is going relatively often, two-four times per hour. The trip is a bit less than one hour thus you
need to purchase ticket in automat that says 0.90 EUR. Get out at the last
stop.
Purchase
train ticket at the Main railway station from Bratislava to Presov, you may
also already purchase ticket for the return trip. I do not recommend using
coaches; it takes ages to get to Presov as the bus has to climb through all
mountains. Please take one of the following trains, Intercity is the fastest
and the most comfortable train with restaurant. You would need to switch from
Intercity to local train at Kysak, but no need to buy another ticket, just keep
the previous one. Do not worry there is automated system in the train that
announces stops and after you get out you would simply follow huge crowd also
switching to the local train.

Transport from the airport in Budapest (and
back)
Please take
the train from Budapest Airport Ferihegy railway station to the train station
called Keleti pu. also in Budapest. I have checked schedule, it goes really
often.
Passengers
can easily reach Ferihegy railway station (Budapest Airport Terminal 1) from
the Budapest Nyugati Railway Station. On weekdays 110 and at weekends 89 trains
ease the travelling from the city center to the airport within less than half
an hour. There are 111 trains on weekdays and 92 at weekends from the airport
to the city center.
The two platforms of the railway station are connected to the Airport Terminal 1 with a pedestrian footbridge of Ferihegy railway station equipped with lifts above the clearway. A short pedestrian path of just 200 meters takes the passengers from the terminal to the Ferihegy railway station.
Travelers who would like to get to Terminal 2A or 2B can travel by bus 200E from there.
You can find the train route planner at the website of the Hungarian railway company. http://elvira.mav-start.hu/elvira.dll

There are only two trains connecting Budapest and Presov,
thus please try to take one of them. You would need to switch in Kosice, but do
not worry, Kosice is the last station from Budapest and then even if you miss
the connection to Presov, there is a connection between Kosice and Presov every
15 min.
You may also contact Noemi, MCP Lithuania 2011/2012 who is
from Budapest and ask her for assistance. She is also planning to come to our
wedding and I am sure she would be willing to help if needed.

If you would like to check some other connections please visit www.cp.sk. It is in Slovak, but straight forward, simply enter departure and arrival location and time of departure and it will show you some options.
Getting around in Presov
Presov is
relatively small city, with only 100,000 inhabitants (though third biggest town
in Slovakia). Therefore you can easily reach key points by foot, unless you
wish to travel to some housing districts.
Following
instructions are just in case, please let me know the time of your arrival and
Janie would pick you up.
If you will
be accommodated in Hotel Lineas, the transport is quite easy. You would need to
walk by foot approximately 15 minutes (or if you do not feel like you may call
taxi). Please go up the stairs and get out of the train station, then turn left
towards the gas station Shell and walk straight approximately 500m to the first
traffic light. Turn left on the traffic lights and walk down the hill again
till next traffic light. Then turn left for the third time and walk
approximately 100 m and you will reach Hotel Lineas. It is basically right below
the railways, however as you cannot cross them you have to go around.
To reach
dormitory of Presov University you would need to take a trolleybus. Get out of
the train and continue through the railway station hall straight through the
underground path – you will cross the street this way. Go up the stairs and you
will be on the bus stop. Purchase a ticket for 10 min. (0.40 EUR) and get on
the trolleybus No. 38. It goes every 30 min. Get out of the trolleybus on the
second bus stop. You should see university and the dormitory on your left.
In
emergency please take a taxi. The price is always the same; do not let them
cheat you. If you take taxi that is standing in front of the station you would
pay 5 EUR, if you call a taxi you would pay 3 EUR no matter where you go.
